40-60 years – The oaks grow taller and reach a height of 30 metres, forming a pole stand. The forester continues thinning. Any sick, dying, or badly formed trees are eliminated.

Young high forest

100 years –  Century-old oaks are about 30 centimetres in diameter.  From this point on, they will grow no taller, and together they form a young high forest.
