Thinning

Human intervention controls the number of trees and improves the quality of hundreds of thousands of young oaks. The aim is to attain an annual growth rate of 2 mm. This is achieved by improvement cutting to thin the trees, which is done according at the following intervals:

  • every 6 years for stands 10-75 years old
  • every 8 years for stands 75-125 years old
  • every 10 years  for stands over 125 years old
