Various stages of growth (3)

High forest

200 years – An old oak stand includes no more than 100-150 trees per hectare.  Their growth slows down at this stage. Before they become sterile and die, the oaks need to be gradually cut back to let the sun reach the soil and enable acorns to germinate.

Seed trees

220-250 years – When the old oaks have fulfilled their role and spawned young seedlings that will replace them, it is time to proceed to the definitive felling.
