In 2000, several famous French wine producers joined forces to create a cooperage on a human scale, in keeping with winegrowers' demands, and to provide serious technical support. Tonnellerie Bel Air has become specialised in tasting oak to select the very best stave wood, with complete traceability starting from when the trees are purchased. The cooperage team produces types and textures of barrels perfectly adapted to a number of grape varieties. Production methods, which leave no room for approximation, result in tremendous regularity.
Located 15 km from the centre of Bordeaux, Tonnellerie Bel Air has a three hectare lot, of which two are devoted to seasoning stave wood.
